In the various stages of a woman's life, her body changes, adapting from time to time to the new circumstances she finds herself having to face. Having a careful and detailed diet for each phase of our existence helps our body to be in the best conditions to stay healthy. Do you know that, for example, there are functional foods that contribute to the regulation of our sexual hormones?

NUTRITION DURING THE MONTH, FOLLOWING THE CYCLE
During the month there is an important variation in the hormones that regulate our sexuality, namely progesterone and estrogen; at every stage of our cycle, foods can help the body cope better.
For example, the follicular phase requires the intervention of the liver for the production and metabolization of estrogen and therefore nutritional support must concern foods and vitamins that can help the liver
PRE MENSTRUAL SYNDROME
Do you have particular symptoms in the days before your period? Do you suffer from breast tenderness? Particularly intense and boring symptoms from an emotional point of view (mood swings, crying,..)? Do you want to eat sweet and satisfying foods?
In the absence of pathologies, with the necessary dietary precautions, these symptoms can decrease or disappear; in fact, some vitamins and minerals improve mood, stimulate the synthesis of serotonin and dopamine, support the production of progesterone,...
BEFORE PREGNANCY
If possible, the body should be prepared in advance for a possible pregnancy. Some aspects such as weight and nutrition should not be overlooked. The period before pregnancy represents the ideal time to normalize body weight; a correct weight improves the chances of pregnancy and contributes to a healthy pregnancy.
Then there are some parameters that need to be checked because they prevent pathologies that involve the unborn child; correct nutrition, combined with the necessary supplementation in some cases, will allow you to arrive at pregnancy healthy and with the body in its best conditions to accommodate a new life.
PREGNANCY
During pregnancy, month after month, the woman's body undergoes many changes and nutrition must consequently accompany these moments. In fact, nutrition must both ensure the correct development of the child and guarantee that maternal needs, which have increased in this phase of life, are satisfied. Furthermore, several studies have shown that the propensity of the child to develop obesity or certain chronic pathologies once he grows up is related to the mother's diet during pregnancy.
BREASTFEEDING
The mother's nutrition, especially during the first 6 months of breastfeeding, must satisfy the needs of both the mother and the baby (the latter have increased compared to when it was in the womb). In particular, it must be remembered that the mother's energy needs must take into account the energy expenditure due to milk production, in addition to the correct intake of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, breast milk is a vehicle for substances that impart tastes and aromas to the milk which are more variable the more varied the mother's diet is.
MENOPAUSE
With menopause a new phase of great changes begins and a bit like what happens in puberty, our body must find a new balance.
It is essential to reach your correct weight, if possible during the pre-menopausal period. The frequent symptoms that can occur in this phase and therefore hot flashes, insomnia, tiredness, etc. can be improved with correct nutrition (with particular attention to specific foods, vitamins and minerals). A regulated diet can contribute to the prevention of pathological conditions frequent in menopause. For example, during fertile life estrogens maintain bone remodeling; during menopause the risk of osteoporosis can become significant. Nutrition, together with appropriate supplementation, can avoid this complication.
ILLNESS
There are numerous pathological conditions that concern the female sexual sphere and which can even cause infertility such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), endometriosis, amenorrhea,... In all these conditions nutrition plays a fundamental role, combined with correct integration and possible pharmacological approach. For example, in the case of amenorrhea, it is important that the body weight is adequate and that there is a correct % of fat mass compared to weight.
